“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”
Jesus replied:
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.”

Matthew 22:36-37

FAQs

Do the books follow a course of study?

They don’t. You can join at any time, and if you miss a month there’s no need to worry!

When will my book arrive?

We try to deliver your book as close as possible to the first of every month, which is when we release the audio guide. The exact date will vary depending on where in the week the first of the month falls. But don’t worry if you have joined mid month and want to dive in straight away! You will have immediate access to the forum, and the notes in the members’ section will direct you to electronic versions of the book.

What should I do if I already own this month’s book?

All the books we choose are works that reveal more of themselves with every reading. Having the same version as other members of the forum facilitates discussion by making it easy to refer to the book by page number.  It also means that in the future you will have a copy to lend to others, without having to worry too much when it is—inevitably—not returned!

Where can I listen?

You can listen in your preferred podcasting app, or right here on the website.

When will I be charged?

When you become a member you will be charged immediately. Further payments will be charged on the same date in each subsequent month.

Is there an additional charge for postage?

No. The postage is included in the membership price.

How can I cancel?

Members can cancel anytime in the ‘My Account’ area of the website.

Do you deliver abroad?

Unfortunately, we only deliver within the UK. We hope to be able to offer membership internationally shortly. Sign up to the waiting list to be kept up to date with our progress.

I really want to join but can’t afford the cost of membership. What should I do?

We want as many people to be able to join as possible and don’t want anyone to be prevented from doing so by financial circumstances. If you truly can’t afford the cost, please contact support@hesperidesonline.com and we will organise a membership for you.

Why ‘Hesperides’?

The word can refer to the garden in which Hera grew her golden apples (originally it referred to the nymphs, the ‘Daughters of Evening’, who tended the garden). After the Renaissance, it has sometimes been used to allude to or evoke the Garden of Eden, which is what we intend. We hope Hesperides will be an oasis, set off from the trivia and distractions found on much of the internet. Perhaps most importantly, we think that it is a beautiful word!
